My Answer:
Not anymore! I don't have any children. I grew up an only child, though I do have two half-siblings that I've never met; though I do chat with my sister on Facebook. My parternal grandmother (I'm adopted on this side of the family) passed away in 2009. She loved reading books. My maternal grandmother loves books too, but her eyesight isn't the best, so she doesn't read much anymore.

My greatest fear is losing my eyesight. I can't imagine not being able to read since it brings me such joy.

Gosh, I'm sorry that there's no one else in your family now that shares your love of books and reading.... Sometimes, there are entire families full of readers, and then there are families where only one person is a dedicated reader. I'm sure you treasure many fond memories of reading with your paternal grandma! And maybe some day, you'll have kids of your own to pass on the torch to!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!! : )
How awful about your grandmother losing her eyesight. I have lots of people in my family who read but very few who read as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteShe tries to read once in a while, but I don't think she ever completes a full book. Her eyesight is fine for her to watch TV and anything else; though my family prefers that she doesn't drive a car.
DeleteI hope my eyes stay healthy. I would be very upset to not be able to read.
ReplyDeleteI am about the only avid read in my family even though I do have family members who read.
Have a great weekend.
Happy Hopping!!

That's so sad about your grandmother's eyesight. That's one of my biggest fears, since my eyesight is extremely bad. Have been meaning to try to learn braille, just in case. I wonder how the experience differs.
ReplyDeleteI've worn eyeglasses since I was twelve-years-old. Hopefully my eyes won't get worse as I get older.
DeleteI think you should be fine! So far so good for me, and I've had glasses since I was five D:
DeleteHi Billy,
ReplyDeleteI'm the only reader in my family. My sister will pick up a book now and then. Have a great day!
I'm an only child too, and the big reader in our family was really my maternal grandmother who died a few years ago. She loved to read almost as much as I do, I think! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI read, a lot! The family are strong readers as well. I can remember my mother teaching us at home to read before we went to school.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Book Blogger Hop.
I come from a family of readers, although I don't know that they have taken reading to the level I have. I hope my daughter will come to love reading as she grows older.
